The Local Organising Committee for the OCEANS '10 IEEE Sydney Conference and Exhibition invites you to make the journey and be part of OCEANS Down Under for the first time. In electing to attend OCEANS '10 in Sydney you will sample the OCEANS experience at a magnificent venue in a unique city that is graced by the world's finest natural harbour and the splendour of its ocean beaches. This OCEANS conference and exhibition has been planned to provide each of you with an unforgettable human experience underpinned by Aussie humour, hospitality and friendliness.
Australia is a small nation inhabiting a continent that is an island. Its people are coastal dwellers, seafarers and ocean sports enthusiasts. Australia's ocean jurisdiction is vast in its expanse. The natural resources that abound in our waters and under the seabed enrich this lucky country. Australian marine scientists and engineers apply insight and ingenuity to understanding, observing, and protecting the ocean environment on which we are so dependent.
OCEANS '10 IEEE Sydney is an opportunity to showcase internationally Australia's capabilities in marine science and oceanic engineering. It's a forum that brings together representatives from universities, industry and government organisations with policy makers, stakeholders and clients. The technical program and tutorials enable us to learn from international experts, to expand our professional network and to update us on the latest advances in marine science and ocean engineering. The exhibition enables us to see and feel the latest sensors, systems, structures, information processing and display tools that are used to probe, measure, monitor and manage the world's oceans. Also, OCEANS is an opportunity to promote marine science and ocean engineering as professional pursuits worthy of engagement by young Australians.
Learn, enjoy and remember OCEANS '10 IEEE Sydney.

OCEANS '10 will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, which is situated on the waterfront at Darling Harbour, adjacent to the heart of the city.
The Centre is the focal point of one of the world's most imaginative urban redevelopment projects, alive with shops, restaurants and visitor attractions. The Centre also offers first class facilities to both delegates and presenters.
The Centre's central location means that accommodation, restaurants and the central business district are all within walking distance. There is a frequent monorail and light rail service linking Darling Harbour with the city centre.
The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre Gets International Green Light The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre's international environmental leadership has been confirmed, with its accreditation as a Green Globe Benchmarked Convention Centre.
The Centre is one of only two convention centres in the world to achieve the ranking, with Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre being awarded the Green Globe accreditation at the same time.
Green Globe is the global benchmarking, certification and improvement system for sustainable travel and tourism, established by the World Travel and Tourism Council in 1993. Its rigorous benchmarking program ranks businesses across a range of areas including energy and water consumption, use of paper and chemical products, waste sent to landfill, waste recycling and sustainability policies. In its assessment report for the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Green Globe said the Centre had achieved above the baseline level across 10 key areas.
