The Labour Law World Congress, 1 - 4 September 2009, Sofitel Wentworth Hotel, Sydney, Australia

Australian lawyers will have a rare opportunity to advance their skills in the vital area of workplace law when a World Congress on Labour Law takes place in Sydney from 1st September 2009 following on from the Industrial Relations World Conference being held in Sydney in the previous week.

While the Industrial Relations Conference will be predominately focused upon discussion of human resource management and industrial relations, the Labour Law World Congress will offer lawyers an opportunity to examine contemporary themes and developments in Labour Law within the domestic and international context.

In particular, the Labour Law World Congress will involve:

Comprehensive discussion of national Labour Law systems in the context of current global pressures. The Congress will involve speakers from a range of different countries examining issues and problems of universal application.

It will also offer a unique snapshot of the current state of global Labour Law regulation, which will be of particular value to Labour Lawyers who can no longer afford to think of Labour Law in purely domestic terms.

A substantial labour law program explored through workshops running on each day of the Congress examining a variety of dimensions of Labour Law including:
  • The Scope of Labour Law
  • Enforcement
  • Regulation
  • Work and Human Freedom
  • Labour Law Participation
  • Bargaining Systems
